Rob and Kelvin react to recent comments from Travis Hunter on The Pivot podcast, where he doubled down on his assertion that he wants to continue to play on both sides of the ball (offense and defense) at the NFL level. While the guys respect the 21-year-old's desire to challenge himself and prove the doubters wrong, they don't believe it's in his best interest.
Rob Parker: "It's sounds good on paper, and I'm not mad at him for wanting [to do it]... It obviously worked with Shohei [Ohtani], but football is a different sport. I just can't see someone doing both and being effective [at the NFL level]."
Kelvin Washington: "[Travis], the answer is no you can't. And it's not that you literally can't as in he doesn't have the skillset -- it's that I can't believe Coach Prime won't tell him no... I know it seems fun and cool to be the first to do it, but it's not worth it physically. You taking 80-90 snaps on both sides of the ball with that small, slender frame, DBs coming to lay you out, and then you've gotta run around trying to cover them, trying to tackle Derrick Henry coming at you... it just doesn't make any sense! You're trying to play as long as you can and as effectively as you can so you can get paid. [This makes that harder.]"
